Position Summary

The Product Designer (PD) collaborates with the Director of Technology, Senior Project Manager and Full Stack Engineers. Together they form an empowered cross-functional product team. The team solves customer and business problems by exploring the problem, ideating on solutions, gathering evidence, running experiments, evaluating ideas, delivering, iterating and following through to adoption. The PD will help the team balance product decisions through a trade-off between value, usability, feasibility and viability. The PD is primarily responsible for the usability of all custom software solutions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Understand primary personas of the product and map to their use of the product
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers specific to platform UX
  • Create prototypes and wireframes
  • Design graphic user interface elements which will be uniformly used across the product: e.g: menus, tabs, tables, and widgets
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related fields
  • Will consider 4+ years work experience in lieu of degree

Experience

  • 4+ years of design or development experience
  • Experience in design tools like Figma or Adobe XD, Adobe Suite, Sketch
  • Strong portfolio of design projects

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong visual design skills, able to create compelling, branded, high-fidelity product screens
  • Finds enjoyment in identifying the value, usability and feasibility tradeoff together with a product manager and an engineer
  • Strong communication skills and is an empathetic team player, especially when communicating research findings or explaining the rationale behind a design decision
  • Driven by a desire to understand the users, the problem, the context and the why
