Description

Are you looking to join a creative team that supports a large, quickly growing technology innovator? This isn’t your usual fill-in-the-blank corporate position. We’re building a B2B marketing team to shake up the industry and create raving fans of our financial technology solutions.

The job is to use all your available resources to develop design solutions that attract and engage the viewer to make a decision — such as buy a product or service — particularly within the B2B space. We are looking for an experienced designer with a full toolbelt of skills. This is not designing logos for friends and family passion projects. You’ll meet with stakeholders around the business, listen to their project goals and translate requests into design solutions. You’ll be a champion of quality in design, collaborating on and steering projects with other creatives, delegating tasks, leading project teams and managing external resources to check for quality and consistency.

The successful candidate’s portfolio will contain a variety of design applications solving problems in digital and web design, UI/UX, revenue-generating marketing tactics, product and packaging design, brand and environmental design and more aimed at solving problems for our business and bringing value to our customers. All while maintaining a cohesive, recognizable brand standard and message. You’ll be working with an energetic team of creatives who value forward-thinking design, storytelling, problem solving and a cooperative, camaraderie-filled work environment.

Sounds great, but who’s Heartland?

Heartland delivers fast, secure payment processing and business solutions such as payroll, point of sale, customer engagement, lending and more to over 400,000 businesses nationwide. Heartland is part of Global Payments, a Fortune 500 company, and is recognized as one of the nation’s best employers.

And behind the scenes?

A servant-leader attitude is key to success. Our Creative Team is a service organization that works cooperatively with sales, marketing, product development and other departments to deliver great customer experiences. We are looking for the challenges slowing those groups down and creating solutions to solve their problems and bring business value. Their win is our win. We don’t need the applause.

We do need your brains, vision and design experience. This job requires high-level visual communications strategy, including understanding the audience and their issues, challenges and interests. Then you’ll create the design themes to catch attention, educate and drive action across platforms. You’ll be responsible for carrying the brand guidelines throughout the company BUT still looking for a way to improve conversion metrics and get attention.

You’ll need one foot in the details of the creative projects, too. You’ll work with a mix of in-house designers and creative agencies. You’re the final checkpoint on quality. And, beyond graphic design, you’ll have a full-time photographer/videographer, developers and animators on the team to help make multimedia magic. So a background in digital and mixed media is important.

You’re interested? Great! Here’s what we need from you.

You have to have experience as a designer and a fair amount of business-focused design experience. If you’ve done some consumer products/service design for bigger brands that would help compensate for not doing B2B.

You have to know the tools of the trade…. Adobe products, yadda, yadda.

You have to understand different media and mediums. We try to leverage design themes across web, social, display, static print, video and product.

We need you to have experience and comfort with multimedia. That doesn’t mean you have to have been a videographer, etc. But we need someone with visual design experience to weigh in on video theme, content, quality and direction.

We need you to bend the mold but we’re not looking for you to break it. We love creative ideas, new ways of presenting things and creating experiences for people. But we are also part of a large company and we have a certain reputation to maintain.

We love people that have experience outside of design, especially if you can thrash out some code, play an amazing guitar or do others’ taxes. And your time flipping burgers or waiting tables? We love that.  Hey, we sell restaurant technology. Diversity of experience helps with empathy toward our customers and helps create a fun team.

A degree in a relevant field if you’re thinner on experience is needed, or bring in a whole heck of a lot of experience and show us you’ve done this thing before.

What would be great is creative agency experience ‘cause we have mad respect for the high quality and high volumes those ninjas can handle. Also, technology startup company experience is great because that means you know how to do a whole lot with a little. So imagine what you can get done at our shop!

You have to be able to manage projects (and several of them). So if you can’t manage your bank account … this may not be the best fit for you.

You have to be able to lift people up. We need coaches who can play ball too. There are no ivory towers and our team and our people are important, every one of them.

Oklahoma City in the office is a must. We are a highly collaborative creative cohort and distance is going to slow that down. You won’t want to miss out on the brand new 2020 Headquarters in OKC.

We pay based on what you bring but rest assured you won’t be offended and we offer full benefits, vacation, bonuses and stock grants… cha ching.
