Description

Vann & Associates | PR + Marketing has a position available for marketing director. The successful candidate will cultivate, critique and give direction to staff as well as handle key accounts gaining exposure with the client’s intended audiences through media relations, digital marketing, community outreach and other strategic communication vehicles as well as think strategically to position each client for the next level of marketing.

As the marketing director, one will be expected to show leadership while working within a wider team which aims to influence public opinion or behavior, on behalf of the client(s). They will also be expected to not only plan, but execute communication strategies and communicate on a regular basis with their assigned clients, their direct reports and other members of the leadership team.

Typical Work Activities:
Working as a marketing director, the tasks for success are likely to vary from day to day, depending on the assigned client(s) and area(s) of strategic communication being performed. Tasks typically involve:

  • Directing assigned account executives working on client accounts
  • Liaising daily with clients, often via telephone and email
  • Creating and collaborating on marketing strategy and campaign development for clients
  • Relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients, potential new clients and the media
  • Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires and blogs, for opportunities for clients
  • Working as part of the leadership team to implement appropriate communications strategy
  • Preparing regular client reports and attending client meetings
  • Researching, writing and editing content for a variety of uses and platforms including traditional media and social media, scripts, ads, storyboards, etc.
  • Developing innovative marketing concepts
  • Monitoring a set of social media accounts
  • Researching and developing media pitches
  • Collating, analyzing and evaluating marketing data
  • Attending and promoting client events
  • Coordinating studio or location photography, videography and other needed vendors
  • Project manager assigning work to account executives
  • Acts as “chief editor”
  • Create creative briefs for designer to execute
  • Manage digital ad buys, campaigns, manages and creates landing pages, creative and all needed components
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Starting salary ranges between $47,000 to $51,900 depending upon experience.
  • Fourteen (14) days paid vacation and sick leave after one year of employment

  • Office hours are generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but often increase depending on workload. As client deadlines are all-important, the successful candidate will be expected to work until outstanding jobs have been completed.
  • Attendance of special events, networking and other “after hours” gatherings are expected.
  • Professional dress is required. On some occasions, more casual attire is permitted.

Qualifications

Experience Required:
The successful candidate will possess the following (Please do not apply if you do not have these minimum qualification):

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university with a degree in public relations, journalism, mass communications, strategic communications, marketing or other related discipline
  • Minimum of three years of public relations, marketing and communications experience in an agency setting preferred. This is neither a sales nor customer service position. A successful candidate must be able to write well, be detail-oriented, organized within a high-stress, low-tolerance environment
  • Previous agency experience preferred ​
  • Expert-level knowledge of AP Style writing
  • Fully proficient knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Hootsuite, Constant Contact
  • Able to learn new software and implement them successfully
  • Basic knowledge of design for both web and print
  • Additional desired skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of layout and design skills, ability to create for print or web.
    • Photography, videography and editing experience.
    • Experience with content management systems and e-mail marketing software.
    • Fully-proficient and advanced knowledge of design and illustration software including Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe InDesign CS6 and Adobe Illustrator CS6.
