2021 ADDYs - The Show Will Go On

The ADDYs is a special time to recognize the great work coming out of the advertising, marketing, communications and PR industry. COVID-19 has affected all of us in many ways. That’s why for this year only you will see ADDY gala pricing at an all time low. Our talented professionals still deserve to be recognized and congratulated even during these uncontrollable circumstances.

New Experience, Same Great ADDYs

The OKC Ad Club has exclusively secured the Flix Brewhouse Theater. Attendees will be seated across 9 theaters at half capacity to guarantee social distancing. Each attendee will receive an arrival time on their ticket in intervals of 6:00pm, 6:20pm and 6:40pm. The show will begin at 7:00 pm and will broadcast to each screen simultaneously. Each theater will have its own waitstaff to ensure prompt and safe service. Attendees will have the choice between 8 dinner menu options as well as 2 alcoholic beverage tickets and movie popcorn. There will be properly sanitized and capacity regulated common areas for socializing. 

We will continue to uphold traditions such as the Best Of, People’s Choice Award, the student art show and the infamous photobooth.

About the American Advertising Awards

The American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) is the advertising industry’s largest and most prestigious competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club (Ad Club) competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

This is the 55th annual American Advertising Awards for the Oklahoma City Ad Club. Our club territory is prestigious and includes OKC, Tulsa, OK and Wichita Falls, TX.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local Ad Club phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie to win ADDY Awards – recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards. Entry in our local Ad Club competition is the first step toward winning a national ADDY.

Selection of the most creative entry in each category is affected by a scoring process in which the panel of judges evaluates all creative dimensions of every entry. ADDY judges are carefully selected representing multiple markets across the country. Each judge has been vetted and approved by AAF National. There are absolutely no judges from the OKC, Tulsa or Wichita markets.

ADDYs COVID Response Plan

The traditional ADDYs will look a little different this year in light of COVID-19. In addition to the Flix Brewhouse COVID-19 safety procedures we want you to know we are following all CDC guidelines to ensure a safe event. To maintain social distancing, theaters will be filled to half capacity. To reduce large crowds in the lobby, each person will be given an arrival time. Flix Brewhouse is a partner of the CinemaSafe program. Safety protocols include: 

  • Masks are required until you have found your seat
  • Social distancing
  • Reduced capacity
  • Enhanced air filtration
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols
  • Employee health training
  • Modified concessions and serving guidelines

PROFESSIONALS: Judging is being conducted virtually this year (2021 only). This means you do not have to prepare and physically drop off any entries. You will need to have all entries entered in the system by the deadline date. The system will allow additional uploads for printed items to give entrants the ability to showcase all sides of the piece. This can be accomplished through a video. If your entry wins at the district level we will need a physical entry to send to national judging. The ADDY committee will reach out to the representative who entered and coordinate producing a physical entry to send off.
STUDENTS: Since we are upholding the student showcase this year, all entries will need to be physically dropped off. This date and details is still TBD.

Payment will be accepted online at time of entry. You can also pay by check, which will need to be mailed this year due to online judging.

People's Choice Awards

The Oklahoma City Ad Club will be hosting the People’s Choice competition at the 55th Annual American Advertising Awards. To vote, please bring a cash donation to the gala to benefit the Ad Club and our AES scholarships. Cash donations will be accepted through the show’s intermission and the winner will be announced at the end of the event.
